Tandang Garimot has the most complete Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) curriculum in the city of Chicago.  FMA is known by several other names, including Arnis, Eskrima, or Kali.  While many know FMA for stick fighting, it also includes a number of other weapons, empty handed fighting, boxing, grappling, and healing (Hilot). FMA relies on speed and proper body mechanics, rather than strength and size to control and conquer opponents of any size, any number, with any close range weapon.  This system is perfect for those looking for self defense and fitness.

FMA offers classes in both empty hand fighting, which is more physical and will improve strength and conditioning, as well as teach self-defense principles, and weaponry, which is slower paced and more technical.  Students are encouraged to take both classes as both types of training are beneficial to one another.Ideal-FMA
